Bend, Ore. – The family-owned, Bend, Oregon-based hotelier, the Oxford Collection of hotels, has announced that 14 of their properties have been recognized with the 2021 Travelers’ Choice Awards. This achievement celebrates businesses that consistently deliver fantastic experiences to travelers around the globe, having earned great traveler reviews on Tripadvisor over the last 12 months. Oxford Collection of Hotels Receives Eight 2021 AAA Inspector's Best of Housekeeping Awards

Bend, Ore. – The family-owned, Bend, Oregon-based hotelier, the Oxford Collection of hotels, has announced that after comprehensive, on-site inspections, eight of their properties have been recognized with the 2021 AAA Inspector’s Best of Housekeeping award. This award is granted to hotels throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean, that receive the highest possible cleanliness and condition scores.

Housekeeping and maintenance attributes are among the most important components analyzed during the on-site evaluations conducted by AAA’s professionally trained inspectors. While every hotel must meet rigorous standards of cleanliness and condition to qualify for the AAA Diamond Program, hotels awarded with the Best of Housekeeping designation significantly surpass expectations, as measured during a comprehensive, on-site inspection. All areas of the hotel must reflect this high standard as AAA inspectors review for evidence of dirt, dust, pests, equipment performance, and more.

Properties must demonstrate housekeeping excellence for two consecutive inspections and be free of AAA member complaints to meet the criteria for this award, which puts them in the top 25% of all 27,000 AAA Diamond designated hotels.

Oxford Suites Pismo Beach Unveils Remodel

Every Oxford Collection property strives to reflect the communities they are a part of. This commitment is carried through to the design process, with property design highlighting the unique character of the region. Color palettes, room layouts, and custom pieces represent the natural area and local history, giving the property the look and feel of a boutique hotel – and the Oxford Suites Pismo Beach remodel exemplifies this approach.

Fresh artwork and custom furniture throughout the hotel reflect the nearby Pacific Ocean, Pismo Beach pier, and well-known Monarch Butterfly Grove, while a one-of-a-kind ‘Oxford Suites’ surfboard stands tall in the lobby celebrating one of the area’s most revered sports. Tropical details and serene hues pull from the Central Coast’s natural beauty and tranquil surroundings. “We wanted to blend coastal and modern elements together to create that relaxing getaway guests are looking for,” shared Michelle Rispoli, an Interior Designer for the Oxford Collection hotels.

The Oxford Collection brand has a strong commitment to sustainable practices and a healthy planet, and the remodel provided another opportunity to go beyond the typical standards of eco-friendly hotel operations. Low VOC paints and LED lighting were used throughout, headboards, wardrobes, and vanities were among items refurbished and reused, and custom bed throws were made from 100% recycled yarns. “We were tasked with refurbishing a lot of the existing furniture pieces, which made this remodel a special challenge,” said Rispoli. "It also gave us a chance to embrace the existing architectural elements — the lobby transformation is a great example of this — we added a fun, custom wall covering behind the front desk that made the area come to life.”

Eco-consciousness does not mean a sacrifice in quality or amenities – and Rispoli’s favorite part of the remodel, the guest room bathrooms, exemplifies this. “It’s an entirely new bathroom experience; glazed porcelain tile floors and rainfall showerheads give it a spa-like feel.”

Purchased in 1992, the property had yet to receive a renovation of this scale aside from intermittent improvements and routine updates. Oxford Suites Pismo Beach has been a favorite among Central Coast travelers and has consistently been named a Travelers’ Choice hotel by Tripadvisor travelers.

Oxford Suites Chico Unveils Remodel

CHICO, CA – Oxford Suites Chico announced the completion of their remodel this month. The remodel included improvements on everything from new flooring and wall coverings, to custom lighting, furniture, and art throughout the property's guest rooms, lobby, and common areas.

The renovation began in June of 2020, while the design process began much earlier. Interior Designer, Michelle Rispoli, of the Oxford Collection hotels was excited to reimagine the look of one of the brand’s busiest properties. “One of my favorite parts [of the remodel] was the total transformation of the lobby,” Rispoli shared. “We took out all of the curved elements and created a warm yet upscale ambiance. It really looks like an entirely new hotel.”

Every Oxford Collection property strives to be a reflection of the communities they’re a part of. This commitment is carried through to the design process, with each property design highlighting the unique character of the region. With a modern industrial focus, the design inspiration for Oxford Suites Chico pulls from Butte County’s past and the area’s natural elements. Functional improvements include USB charging port stations, open wardrobes, and back-lit vanity mirrors, while fresh artwork throughout the hotel draws from the region’s agricultural past and reflects the nearby Bidwell Park, Bidwell Mansion, and Chico State University.

The Oxford Collection brand is committed to going beyond the typical standards of eco-friendly hotel operations and maintained this mindset through the renovation process. Furniture removed from rooms including headboards, desks, couches, and side tables, were donated to Habitat for Humanity of Butte County, where General Manager, Jason Olivares, serves as Board Director. Low VOC paints and LED lighting were used throughout, bathroom vanities and shower tubs were kept in place to reduce waste, and custom bed throws were made from 100% recycled polyester.
